You have Been Mantled by God Almighty!

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

The mantle was originally a cape worn simply to ward off the cold. The mantle was first mentioned in the Old Testament, as a garment worn by several prophets including Elijah and Elisha

It is critical that as an intercessor we understand and fully embrace the fact that God has mantled us for the ministry of prayer and intercession. The Bible speaks of individuals who wore a physical mantle. The main purpose of the mantle was as a source of covering and protection. One of the most famous mantles spoken of in the Bible is Elijah’s mantle in 2 Kings 2. In response to Elisha’s request for a double portion of Elijah’s anointing, he was instructed that if was there to see Elijah when he was taken up into heaven his request would be granted. At the point where Elijah is being whisked away by the chariots of fire, his mantle falls as a symbol that Elisha’s request for a double portion had been granted.

A mantle not only covers and protects the owner naturally, but spiritually it serves as a symbol of spiritual covering, anointing and authority.

Asking for a double portion of anointing seems like a bold and audacious request but God wants his children to ask bold and seemingly arrogant requests in prayer when it comes to the spirit. All spiritual blessings needed to war victoriously have been granted unto us through Jesus Christ. If you have a strong desire to pray and intercede on behalf of your family, church, community, nation and the world then that’s a sign that the grace for intercession rests upon your life.

We can be certain that the Devil will not influence you to pray and intercede against his work. Rest assured that the Lord has anointed you to “preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” [Isaiah 61:1-3]
