Prayer Grants Insight & Access

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

It is undeniable that prayer is powerful! It illuminates the heart of man and gives site to the blind. Prayer moves the hand and heart of God to establish is will in the earth as we cry “thy will be done on earth as it in heaven.

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Pslam 119:130-176

The Bible passage in 2 Kings 6 describes the frustrations of the King of Syria after all of the intimate details of his plan were told to the King of Israel by the Prophet Elisha. The king was vexed in his spirit because he couldn’t understand how his opponent knew his plans. It grieved him so much that he thought that someone on his team was a spy for the King of Israel. It was revealed to him that Elisha, the prophet of God was the one who was revealing all of his plans. When the King of Syria learned this he sent a great host and surrounded the city in which Elisha dwelt with his servant. “And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them” (2 Kings 6:15-16).

And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

When Elisha prayed, his servants eyes were opened and he was granted insight and access to see the heavenly host that were on their side. God will reveal supernatural things to men and women of prayer that others don’t have access to see and know. Without spiritual insight Elisha’s servant could only see the host of the army of Syria, but because of the prayer of Elisha, the servant’s eyes were opened to see not only naturally but supernaturally. What was once hidden was illuminated...what was chaotic became calm...what was once menacing became insignificant. Insight and access will made the difference in the perception and perspective of Elisha’s servant and will do the same for us.

Pray: Father, grant unto me divine insight and access to see your mighty hand at work, and illuminate our surroundings to see and discern between good and evil, Amen.

May the grace of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you.
